Google Slides

Review

Google Slides for iOS and Android is a productivity app that is part of the G Suite from Google. It is used in the creation and editing of presentations. Google-related features also enhance the versatility of this application. With this app, you have a presentation creator similar to PowerPoint right on your smart device.

Design 5/5

Google Slides is very easy to learn. The interface is recognizable as it is clear and simple. The toolbars are located at the top; a slide preview to the left, notes at the lower part and your workspace in the middle. Clicking on a tool that requires some real estate on the screen, such as a theme or transition, makes it appears on the right.

The majority of what you require for a basic slideshow is usually visible or becomes visible any time you need it. For instance, when moving elements around your slide, guides will appear and help you align with other components or the page center.

Content and Features 5/5

One key feature present in all the G Suite apps is collaboration. You can share an entire slide deck with many other people. You can also control who has rights to edit, comment on or view the presentation. Whenever somebody joins the project, their name appears together with a coordinating color at the top of the project screen.

The presentation is possible right from the app or users can opt to export to a different format and use other tools for the presentation. You can export single slides as PNG, JPG and SVG. You can also import audio into your slides. Another great feature is the ability to take questions from the audience in real time through a tool that enables them to submit questions.

You can make your presenter notes visible without placing them upon the screen. There is also a pointer tool that allows active pointing of crucial aspects within your slides.

User Experience 5/5

A major factor attracting users to Google Slides is the ease of use. You download it and immediately start using it. There are no charges whatsoever as well as no learning curve. The ability to collaborate in real time makes this app a favorite among both businesses and individuals.

Video and audio support are a big plus that makes this application robust and versatile. The convenience of making presentations right from your device increases the ease at which you can prepare presentation equipment. Offline editing enables you to continue with your slides creation even during downtimes due to internet interruptions.

Compatibility 5/5

Google Slides works on iOS 10 or later versions. You can run the app on iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The Android OS requirement varies from one device to another, so check the Play Store to see if yours supports it.

Conclusion

Google Slides is arguably the best free presentation application you will get. It has robust collaboration features with a few special touches. Though not as powerful as Keynote or PowerPoint and lacking presentation export to video, it is still a reliable application for your slide decks.
