AnyList

Review

Gone are the days when you had to walk around with a pen and paper to record trivial, repetitive or everyday tasks, like writing a grocery list. With a great productivity app, you can free up more time from such tasks and be more accurate in your daily chores. AnyList is not only a great shopping list manager, but it also helps you organize your recipes at the touch of a button. You can store your grocery lists, share them with friends and create your own recipes or even download them from the internet into an easily accessible database.

There’s much you can accomplish with this app. You can assign stores to your favorite items, plan daily or weekly meals using the meal planner, or even scale your recipes. AnyList packs powerful yet useful features that give you complete power over all your lists.

Design 4/5

The minimalist design employed by the app is effective, although it may come off as a bit bland after using it several times. The primarily blue-and-white contrasted theme works well, especially because AnyList has quite detailed menus. At the bottom of the home screen, you’ll find tabs for your lists, recipes, meal plans and settings laid out in an uncluttered fashion. The icons that mark the various tabs are quite simple, and the developers should employ a bit more creativity to liven up the app.

Content and Features 5/5

AnyList is quite detailed, especially when it comes to creating lists, recipes, and meal plans. With the full premium version, you can use AnyList on your computer browser, import web recipes, organize your lists in folders, assign items to stores with GPS tracking, scale your recipes, assign costs to your menu items, assign passwords to your lists, and personalize the appearance of your app. You can also sync your lists across multiple devices and even use Siri voice integration to create lists and reminders.

User Experience 4/5

Syncs of meal plans, recipes, and lists across multiple iOS devices are instant so you can access all your information from anywhere. Downloading recipes from the internet is mostly a breeze, and once you save these in your account database, you can scale them to your required meal sizes. Occasionally a recipe may fail to download from certain sites, although further inquiry from AnyList’s support team revealed that this is a problem with the list microdata format.

Compatibility 3/5

AnyList is only available for iOS devices, specifically iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch running on iOS 9.3 or later. The app isn’t available for Windows or Android devices although plans for porting are underway.

Conclusion

AnyList is a handy tool for anyone looking to increase their productivity, track their shopping costs, and have their shopping lists or recipes anywhere they want to go. The meal plan feature is excellent because you can plan your diet if you are watching your weight or are trying to eat healthy. You can also share lists effortlessly with your friends and get their input.
