Amazon Music

Review

Amazon Music is often an underappreciated component of Amazon’s subscription services. This is a service for music streaming that allows listeners to delve into over 2 million songs for free. However, there are some in-app purchases. This service has a decent catalog of interesting playlists, but it’s not as robust as services such as Spotify and Slacker Radio.

Design 5/5

This application has an impressive user interface with many options and tweaks available. There are several areas embedded within the interface designed to assist you to buy or discover music. Navigating through the menus might take a bit of getting used to, but overall the developers used great style and creativity in creating such fluid menus.

The icons are adequately visible and are accompanied by commands that will guide you along with all the different navigations. The black background gives this app a classy feel, and the white fonts create an excellent contrast to enable proper visibility. Settings and preferences allow you to customize the app in your desired manner.

Content and Features 5/5

Amazon Music has numerous features. First, you can browse music based on the category of music you want and titles. Second, it has the Recent feature which allows viewing recently downloaded or played music. Third, it has the search feature that enables you to key in a text search for a particular type of music, artist or title. Fourth, it has My Music feature that lets you listen to music when the device is offline. It allows you to access playlists or music that you have downloaded and stored on your device from Amazon Music. Also, it has a streaming service known as the Amazon Music Unlimited which allows access to millions of songs. Besides, it has Prime Music that enables access to over two million ad-free albums and songs. Lastly, it has Alexa voice controls that you can use to control playback and find songs.

User Experience 5/5

This application comes stocked with over 1,000 playlists with unique themes assembled by the Amazon Music experts. Every playlist displays details such as track-listing, runtime, and the uploader. Upon finding a desired playlist or track, you can add it to your library through clicking “Add to Library.”

With Amazon Prime Music, you can stream playlists as well as select albums and singles. However, you are not able to create a station over, for instance, a hot-hitting track. The better part, however, is that the cost of music in Amazon Prime is a component of Amazon Prime Package, and there no interrupting adverts.

Compatibility 4/5

Amazon Prime Music is compatible with iDevices (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch and Apple TV) running on iOS 10.0 and beyond. Android compatibility varies from one device to another. Hardware specs are the most significant determinant in this case.

Conclusion

Amazon Music is a worthwhile service that closely matches its desktop counterpart Music Unlimited. There are plenty of playlists for you to select from, great recommendations as well as a music store where you can make all your purchases. What’s more, you get access to lyrics too!
